EBC’s Value of Treatment (VoT) project marked an important step in its development with a joint working groups meeting organised on 22 April in Brussels.

The meeting brought together experts in several disease fields from universities, industries and organizations to discuss two important aspects of treatment: the patients’ journey through their disease, and the economic analysis of the treatment course. The working groups focused mainly on schizophrenia and dementia but also on multiple sclerosis, stroke and Parkinson’s disease.

Why is VoT important?

The main objective of the VoT project for brain disorders is to assess the socio-economic impact of interventions (clinical practice), or the lack of thereof, and to provide evidence and tools that can assist policy makers and healthcare actors in shaping effective policy responses to some of the most prevalent brain disorders.

The project is ongoing, and more disease groups will join in the upcoming meetings, including Restless Leg syndrome and epilepsy.
