On July 8th, the Luxembourg Brain Council was officially launched on the occasion of the EU Presidency’s High-Level Conference on “Making access to personalized medicine a reality for patients”, which was hosted by Lydia Mutsch, the Minister of Health of Luxembourg. The aim of the Conference was to formulate a patient centered strategy involving EU decision makers and regulators in the arena of public health, to enable EU Member States to contribute to integrating personalized medicines into clinical practices while enabling much-greater access for patients. Speakers included Dr. Vytenis Andriukaitis, EU Commissioner for Health, Mary Baker, Past-President of EBC, and John Bowis, former-MEP and Board Member of GAMIAN-Europe.
The launch of the Luxembourg Brain Council echoes the National Brain Councils’ Academy meeting that was organized in June by the EBC in Brussels. It was seen as a very positive sign for the development of NBCs across Europe, and the EBC hopes that further councils will get established in order to promote brain related issues at national levels.
