A strategic conference, organised by Liverpool Health Partners (LHP) has received international plaudits from across the sector and within industry in January 2015.

A two-day event programme showcased some of the most prestigious speakers working in medicine, research, public policy, academia, technology and industry.

Rosalind Way, Director of Operations at LHP enthused: “Essentially we’ve managed to gather an internationally acclaimed roster of talent to the city to network and discuss the future of Liverpool’s health economy with the support of Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), the North West Coast Academic Health Science Network (NWC AHSN), Liverpool City Region’s Local Enterprise Partnership (LCR LEP) and the European Commission.

The Opening Symposium debated the main agenda of Health and Wealth, chaired by Professor Sir Ian Gilmore, Chairman, Liverpool Health Partners, and brought together a diverse mix of speakers including: Robert Madelin, Director General, DG Connect, EU Commission; Dr. Mary Baker MBE, Immediate Past President of the European Brain Council; and Chris Born, Healthcare Specialist, Healthcare UK.

Setting the pace and breadth of the 2-day event, the key points made at this impressive opening demonstrated the spirit of partnership and the impact this can have on the present and future progress of healthcare. Dr Baker highlighted the societal and health challenges faced by Europe that can only be solved through partnership, trust, communication and innovation.
