Key Highlights from EBC’s Participation

The Advocacy Training for Child Neurology and Brain Health session drew an engaged audience of healthcare professionals, researchers and advocates eager to strengthen their skills in advancing brain health initiatives. The interactive discussion, led by Frédéric Destrebecq, EBC Executive Director, and Anna Jansen, Chair of EPNS’s Advocacy & Collaboration Committee, sparked meaningful conversations about effective stakeholder engagement strategies.
Participants explored practical approaches to:
• Engaging policymakers and healthcare decision-makers
• Developing sustainable advocacy campaigns that drive systemic change
• Creating multi-stakeholder coalitions that amplify impact
• Translating scientific evidence into actionable policy recommendations
The session reinforced that effective advocacy requires not only expertise but also strategic thinking, clear communication and the ability to build bridges across diverse stakeholder groups. The enthusiastic participation and thoughtful questions from attendees demonstrated the growing need for advocacy skills development within the paediatric neurology community.
Throughout the congress, the EBC booth served as a hub for productive discussions about ongoing projects, upcoming events and potential collaboration opportunities. We had the privilege of connecting with paediatric neurologists, researchers, advocates, patient organisation representatives and other stakeholders who share our mission of improving brain health outcomes for children and their caregivers.
These conversations revealed several emerging themes:
• The critical need for increased research funding in rare paediatric neurological conditions
• The importance of early intervention and prevention strategies in brain health
• Recognition that advocacy and clinical excellence must go hand-in-hand to drive meaningful progress
• Enthusiasm for cross-border collaboration initiatives that can leverage European expertise and resources

Addressing the complex challenges in paediatric neurology requires collaborative approaches that bring together clinical expertise, research innovation, advocacy excellence and patient perspectives. No single organisation, institution or country can tackle these challenges alone. The paediatric neurology community’s dedication to innovation and collaboration gives us great hope for the future!
Thank you to everyone who participated in the advocacy training session, stopped by the EBC booth and contributed to the many meaningful discussions throughout the event. Your engagement, insights and enthusiasm enhance EBC’s continued commitment to this vital work. EBC is looking forward to the next EPNS congress, set to take place on 6-10 April , 2027, in Barcelona (Spain)!
