On 13 & 14 September, EBC held its 3rd Board Meeting of the year and a full day strategic workshop, with the aim of developing a discussion on 2017-2018 activities as well as on the developments of key topics of interest for EBC and its member organisations. We had an excellent turn out, with representatives from almost all of our member and partner organisations.

The Board dinner the evening of the 13th also included a presentation from Dr. Robert Jakob, Team Leader Classifications and Terminologies (ICD, ICF, ICHI) on the revision (11th Revision) of the International Classification of Disease (WHO ICD – 11): State of Play and Challenges – Implications for Brain Disorders. His presentation gave an overview of the relevant chapters and technology used in WHO ICD- 11, and challenges, and was followed by insights from discussants (Prof. Silvana Galderisi, Prof. Wolfgang Gaebel, Prof. Wolgang Oertel, Dr Mathilde Leonardi) and open floor discussion.

The strategic workshop was a great opportunity to review EBC’s achievements and reflect on initiatives our organisation should consider in the future. This year the full house was divided into 4 breakout groups to discuss various topics EBC found most relevant to our agenda moving into 2018: mental health in the workplace, EBC as a platform to coordinate brain research, Clinical trials and therapeutic innovations and Communication, Advocacy & Partnerships.

Furthermore, all members were given the opportunity to present their ongoing and upcoming projects, and give their feedback and impressions of EBC’s current and upcoming work.
