The Portuguese Brain Council and the Students’ Association organized CEREBRUM, the first-ever “Brain Day” at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, which took place on May 24th. The program was entirely dedicated to the students of the Faculty and covered a wide range of disciplines related to the brain. It aimed to open new perspectives, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and bring students closer to clinicians and researchers. Renowned speakers from various fields took part, including Psychiatry, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Neurosciences, Neuroimaging, Neuropediatrics, Neuroanatomy, Neuroendocrinology, Neurocritical Intensive Care Medicine, Neuropsychology, Pedopsychiatry, Pediatric Neuro-oncology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiotherapy, and Interventional Neuroradiology. Topics ranged from autism to Artificial Intelligence, memory to technological advances in Neurosurgery, and included discussions on severe brain conditions—featuring personal testimonies—as well as rehabilitation. The day also featured sessions on Egas Moniz, epilepsy, Augmented Reality, and more, concluding with a quiz and moments of leisure.
